Straight Outta Compton, who got left out?

Towards the end of Straight Outta Compton, the N.W.A. biopic, I couldn’t help but notice the timeline was extremely off. The film blended the unfortunate death of the N.W.A. leader, Eazy E, with studio sessions of the late great Tupac Shakur as if they happened at the same time.

For those that don’t know, Eazy E died in March 1995, while Tupac was not released from Clinton Correctional Facility until October 1995. That’s a full eight months apart. Furthermore, Dr. Dre didn’t depart Death Row Records until March 1996. Therefore, the last 15 minutes of Straight Outta Compton seems as if they were attempting to force-feed Tupac into the storyline while chronicling Dre’s departure from Tha Row.

Hence, my round up of all those that were excluded from Straight Outta Compton’s final cut that could have made it instead of Tupac. No disrespect to Pac, he is a hip hop icon. But, he should not have been force fed to the people, especially when compromising N.W.A.’s biopic timeline.

DJ Quik – Quik, a fellow Compton native, representing the Piru clique, was a collaborator with Eazy and a personal friend of Eric Wright. It would have made much more sense to include Quik in the production, especially since he is also a friend and collaborator of Dr. Dre.

BG Knoccout and Gangsta Dresta – As Eazy’s daughter, Erin Wright, expressed recently, No Valeline was played almost in its entirety in Straight Outta Compton, but Real Muthaphukkin G’s was a non mention.

Tha Dogg Pound – In one of the most infamous rap beefs of all time, Tha Dogg Pound, representing Death Row Records, went hard at Ruthless Records and Eazy E. One of the most disrespectful moments in this beef was when Tha DPG called up to the radio station and started an argument with Eazy and Bone.

Above The Law – Although they were mentioned very briefly in Straight Outta Compton, Above The Law was not featured in the biopic. The group from Pomona, home of Sugar Shane Mosley, held it down for Ruthless before Bone Thugs came along.

Puffy and Biggie – If you show the guy who was forced to drink piss by Suge Knight, why not show Puffy and Biggie, and the reason the whole Death Row and Bad Boy beef started? Or even the Source Awards fiasco?

Da Lench Mob – While Ice Cube threw up Lench Mob before getting jumped at the New Music Seminar, reportedly by Above The Law (see above), there was no mention of the real plight of Ice Cube’s new group after departing from N.W.A. T-Bone, Jay Dee and Shorty were never mentioned.

This is just a short list of those who were left out of Straight Outta, the major players.
