Ronda Rousey uses Floyd Mayweather to sell upcoming fight

UFC women’s bantamweight champion “Rowdy” Ronda Rousey recently took a calculated shot at pound for pound boxing king Floyd “Money” Mayweather after winning the ESPY for best fighter. Rousey is the first woman to win best fighter of the year as part of ESPN’s annual sports awards show.

Never one to bite her tongue, Rousey, the woman who helped to popularize women’s MMA, said after learning she had just won fighter of the year, “I wonder how Floyd feels being beat by a woman for once.” She continued, “I’d like to see him pretend to not know who I am now.”

According to Rousey, the shot taken at “Money” has been a year in planning. And if she didn’t win best fighter this year, she would have taken a jab at him next year or the year after.

Isn’t it coincidental that in September Mayweather will fight his last fight, according to him, and Rousey has a fight coming up on August 1 against Bethe Correia. So, the two biggest stars in the fight game have matches within a month of one another. Thanks ESPN and UFC for the drama.

Watch the video from FightHype.com, who many say is a Mayweather controlled media outlet, and you will see that there is no genuine hate for Mayweather from Rousey. Rather there is a respect for Mayweather.

Say what you say about Mayweather’s past domestic abuse allegations, if Rousey’s remarks were directed purely towards Floyd in that regard, then she should have said nothing at all. Why give credence to his past behavior, if in deed the allegations are true?

Rather, Rousey admitted that she had a fight to sell and winning the ESPY for best fighter was the perfect moment to go at Floyd. I’m not mad because I really like Ronda Rousey. She has been a favorite of mine sine she was in StrikeForce, before UFC bought them out.

To prove this fact, I released a song called Ashton Kutcher to show love to the most feared woman on the planet. To keep it 100, I wouldn’t be surprised if Rousey had some pent up sexual tension towards Mayweather. But, that is another conversation.
