Recipe of the day – Mandarin Cherry Smash

I found today’s recipe of the day in the classic cocktail book, The Craft of the Cocktail by Dale DeGroff. Whether you are a bartender or not, its a good book to have in your possession. In The Craft of the Cocktail, DeGroff didn’t credit anyone with the recipe, and after doing some research, I’ll assume Absolut, since they have a funky how-to video on their site. Please correct me if you know the origin of the drink.

On a personal note, I would highly recommend giving this cocktail a try with your own orange infused vodka.

Ingredients

1/2 lemon, quartered

3/4 oz. cherry brandy

1.5 oz. Absolut Mandarin

Method

Muddle lemon and cherry brandy in the bottom of a mixing glass. Fill with ice cubes. Add Absolut Mandrin. Shake well and strain all ingredients into a rocks glass filled with ice cubes (or just pour all ingredients from the shaker into an empty rocks glass). Garnish with mandarin (or not).
