Blood Orange Margarita

The Blood Orange Margarita is a great twist on a traditional margarita. Because the blood orange itself, is a sweet and tart fruit, its juice is a perfect replacement for fresh lime juice. Our recipe below is simple and best executed when using fresh blood orange juice. If fresh juice is not available, store bought is acceptable.

Ingredients

2 oz. Premium silver Tequila

1 oz. Fresh blood orange juice (store bought if fresh blood oranges aren’t available)

1 oz. Organic agave nectar

1/2 oz. Cointreau

Blood orange slice or orange twist for garnish

Method

Rub a blood orange slice or regular orange twist on half of a rocks glass. Gently roll that half of the glass onto a plate of sea salt. Next, fill that glass with ice. In a shaker, combine all ingredients with ice. Shake well (20-30 seconds for the proper dilution) and strain into salted rocks glass with ice. Garnish with blood orange slice or orange twist.
